The week one gave us a short introduction to the semester plans. Being more clear with assignments we straited deep into discussions, analysing our ideas. The first Music Video Production Practicum lesson, was held in a way everyone will get to know each other, and their tastes and interests. In addition to our discussions of our preferences, we were shown couple of well known videos, that have their unique characteristics in the style. Analysing the development of the music videos and new techniques, we followed the history from 1966, starting with the Bob Dylan's video : 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' and ending up in current Rihanna's track : We Found Love.
This timeline of the videos helped me to view how the new technology helped artists to make their videos look different, involving new Ideas. For my personal opinion, I prefer videos having a strong story plot, or at least to be the one that makes your eye fell comfortable and enjoy both music and video. To tell the truth, some of my fav songs, do not have the video that attract me, and vise versa some of the videos hypnotise me, while I might skip this song all the time on my mp3 player.
I am more a music person, and the video for me has to be really outstanding to attract my eye. For me is like comparing reading the book and watching the film. Music gives me a chance to have time with my own imagination, while video might make the music more worthy in artistic view point.
Therefore, these weekends I will go deeply into the developing the ideas for our project work with my mates, and let our imagination go through the lenses of camera.
